Foaming, also known as froth flotation, is a process of selectively separating hydrophobic valuable minerals from hydrophilic waste gangue. In a simple form, froth flotation is a method of "skimming" minerals from the surface of "mud" with the help of specific chemicals, water and air bubbles.
MIBC is used as a foaming reagent in the flotation process of copper, molybdenum sulfide, coal and other ores.
